Our skin-feel PETG and GAG films utilize a solvent-free UV-cured coating system. Under short-wavelength (172 nm) excimer light exposure, the top layer undergoes micro-folding and polymerization contraction prior to full cure. This micro-folding structure scatters light, achieving a reliable matte finish (< 2 GU) without the use of silica matting agents, which can degrade transparency and scratch resistance.
This micro-folded surface topography helps distribute local contact forces, reducing the appearance of fingerprints and micro-scratches. It also provides the characteristic soft, velvety skin-feel texture.
We are currently developing next-generation functional monomers that facilitate thermal self-healing. When exposed to heat (such as standard hot air or friction), the crosslinked polymer network reorganizes, helping close minor surface abrasions. To achieve a flat surface, the base panel (MDF, HDF, or particleboard) must be sanded to a uniform thickness, with dust completely removed. For thin PETG films (0.15mm to 0.3mm), high-density MDF is recommended to prevent telegraphing of the wood fibers through the film.
Our films are compatible with PUR adhesives applied at temperatures between 120°C and 140°C. Standard nip roll pressures should be adjusted according to thickness to prevent stress whitening along profile edges.
All skin-feel rolls are shipped with a co-extruded PE protective film. This mask shields the surface during transit, panel sawing, edge banding, and installation, and is removed after final assembly.
Rolls are suspended on core plugs within robust wooden crates to prevent flat spots on the film. Keep stored in dry, climate-controlled environments at temperatures between 15°C and 25°C to preserve the adhesive primer treatment.
