In modern panel decoration, traditional solvent coatings and thin PVC foils face limits in wear resistance and environmental compliance. High-performance polyester films—specifically Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG) and GAG (PETG/APET/PETG co-extruded structures)—have emerged to address these challenges. PETG incorporates cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM) into its molecular backbone, which prevents crystallization. This structure delivers superior transparency, high impact strength, and excellent chemical resistance compared to traditional PET homopolymers.
GAG structures combine the high-stiffness core of Amorphous Polyethylene Terephthalate (APET) with outer layers of PETG. The performance of a decorative panel depends significantly on the bond line between the structural substrate (MDF, HDF, Particleboard, or WPC) and the technical film. Our engineered films are optimized for high-speed industrial flat-sticking machines utilizing PUR (Polyurethane Reactive) hot-melt adhesives.
Unlike EVA hot-melts, which bond primarily through mechanical interlocking, PUR cures via a crosslinking chemical reaction with moisture in the air and substrate. To achieve structural bonding, our film backs are corona-treated to a minimum of 42 dynes/cm. This treatment enables chemical coupling with the isocyanate groups in the PUR adhesive, preventing delamination in high-humidity or high-temperature environments.
